
Emily Axelrod believes in stretching organizations to unleash their creativity and knowledge. She believes that honesty, relationships, communication and engagement are key factors in change. She likes to be a mischief-maker by stirring the pot so that things happen.

For over thirty years, Emily has used strategic visioning, work redesign, team development and good old common sense to build sustainable, fun and dignified enterprises. Her recent clients include Barrington School District 220, Boeing, Calgary Health Authority, Girl Scouts of America, the Parliament of World Religions, and Thyssenkrupp. Her experience ranges from work with the gaming industry, to the redesign of human resources organizations, to community organizing.
Emily uses her southern spirit and wit as a highly sought-after speaker and coach. She has presented to a variety of organizations, including the Organization Development Network, American Management Association, and the London Strategic Planning Society.
Emily co-authored You Don’t Have to Do It Alone, The Conference Model and is a contributing author to The Change Handbook, The Flawless Consulting Field Book, Future Search in School District Change, and The Textbook on Organization Development.
She serves on the Berrett-Koehler Authors Coop Board of Directors and the Organization Design Forum Board of Directors.
Emily holds an MA from the University of North Carolina in education and a MSW from Loyola University. She lives in Chicago with her husband Dick. They have two children and two grandchildren.
